From You, To Me! (Vol. 55)

Well it looks like the change train is a'comin to Metro. With all of the congressional hearings that have been taking place with regards to subway safety, metro [mis]management is in the spotlight. Maryland Senator Barbara Mikulski, who'd been a supporter of increased metro funding did a great job of body slamming metro in today's news. Metro says vast management changes are coming very soon.

Let's see what really happens...

"Metro Employs Disabled People"

Oh, nevermind, they're just able-bodied employees who feel entitled to park in handicapped spaces. And I do mean spaces, plural. As I was walking down the escalator at the Cheverly station, this Metro van pulled up, parked diagonally across 2 handicapped parking spots, and two Metro employees hopped out and went into the station. Granted, there were a half-dozen other handicapped parking spots open in case an actual disabled person came along needing to park there, but still... it's yet another example of Metro employees who don't feel the rules apply to them.

And that's the culture we see on a regular basis. No regulation within the agency. "WHO GONE CHECK ME BOO!??"

Thanks for the submission!

Wow! Do you know how pissed I would be? Seriously...is the armrest lodged in his ass crack? This is CLEARLY a safety violation. First off, he's blocking the aisle. Secondly, in the event of an emergency evacuation, this dude is gonna get stuck IN the emergency exit! "Look ma, no seatbelt!" The guy next to him is saying "you gotta be shitting me".

Thanks for sharing!

Metroman,

Remember Crazy Red Line Dude? Well, with regards to the following, there are no words:

Like the Fresh Prince said,

"Parents just don't understand!"

apparently you can never have enough handbags on the Orange line. This gal has 3! And while I will conceed that the denim one is a bookbag for school the other 2 are clearly purses.

WOW! Thats a whole lotta baggage there. I think three shoulder bags is the equivalent of one rolling bag. We're not even gonna talk about the fashion sense thats lacking here either!

Thanks for the pic!

"Scary Metro Pic"

Found this on Twitter -- yowza! I'd have been flipping out if I had been in this car

Too close for comfort between RI Ave and NY Ave on Red Line a... on Twitpic

Yeah, I saw this on twitter as well. Thats definitely the worst nightmare of any red line rider. It amazes me that trains are even allowed to get this close after June 22nd...oh wait, no it doesn't.

Thanks for sharing the pic, and thanks for reading iMetro!

The Purse Dragging

Metroman, WTF?

I would have thought by now you would have talked about this: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2009/12/08/vo.purse.stuck.subway.cnn

I mean, there are so many things you could say. The "I guess she didn't heed the door closing announcement" to trying to jump out, to how the hell the train opperator didn't even look to check to see if things were clear.

You can't get much clearer view that that.

If you look at the operator you can see that they didn't even check.

While watching CNN, they said that there is actually a spotter on the platform that didn't do anything either.

I have to wonder what the people were thinking on the train and how no one did anything about it, like pulling the emergency stop. I guess they were too amazed or transfixed on the situation.

Damn...I can't view the vid here because I don't have a flash player on my pc (nor can I download it). The man is holding me down :-(
