"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"

We all knew it was coming after the June 22nd accident, injuring 89 folks...9 of which were fatal. It's about to be lawsuit season! Six lawsuits have been filed thus far...the first of which was filed just two days after the accident. Metro is in for years of legal battles after the final cause of the accident is determined upon the conclusion of the investigation. And it will not be cheap! (One of the six current lawsuit is for $25 Million!)

As time progresses, Metro expects more lawsuits to be filed. It's not only Metro being sued, the manufacturer of the ciruit system components that failed are getting sued as well. Lawyers are going to have a field day with this one. Those injured/affected by this crash have up to three years to file. The actual time until these claims are honored/settled/dismissed can be YEARS down the road. One lawyer reported just settling a case from eight years ago. I guess the person who filed suit on June 24th wanted to get a head start on things!

I must admit, although I wasn't traumatized physically by this accident, I am emotionally haunted. When I close my eyes at night, I see disturbing images of metro trains ramming into each other. I hear train operator voices "train experiencing mechanical difficulties at fort totten"..."shuttle bus available"..."stand clear, train moving forward"..."train directly ahead of us, we'll crash into it"..."moving momentarily"..."JEW-DIS-YOU-WURRY square". I often wet the bed since June 22nd...
