"How do you know that, MetroMan?"
I thought you'd never ask... listen to it in the video:
It sounds like a elephant with down syndrome...in heat. That noise is from parts rubbing together. Parts rubbign together causes friction....friction causes heat. This will wear down the parts that are rubbing. The end result will be this escalator breaking down, as they all do. If I can hear this bellowing, and identify the fact that it is in dire need of some lubrication, why can't Metro?

You're absolutely right. I hear that all the time on Metro escalators and then whattaya know......a big ole sign "ESCALATOR OUT OF SERVICE"......
I live in Silver Spring, and let me tell you, those escalators are ALWAYS out of order. And yet, no repairs are being done. They'll have everything turned off and spend the weekend "working" on the escalators. And by Monday morning, it's all the same again.
That sound is crazy. I used to think it was the train coming, but I soon learned the deal. It hurts my ears!
I was at that station Sunday and you could hear the death squeals a block away. Why the station attendants haven't done anything .... oh wait, I'm asking too much!
